Harbour Bonifacio Information

Ferry Bonifacio

By ferry to the wonderful Bonifacio

Many people are appealed by Bonifacio. They always come back to the small town with only 3,000 inhabitants and the extraordinary architecture. There is a upper town with a lot of white houses that are situated on and around the chalk cliffs and there is a lower town with the famous port, that is situated in a bay.

The two parts of the town are connected through many picturesque stairs with a panoramic view. Another highlight are the sandstone cliffs around the entrance to Bonifacio’s bay, where grottos can be visited.

Especially in the high travel season during the summer months the port is heavily frequented because many visitors come to Corsica by ferry. On the route Bonifacio – Santa Teresa, the shipping company Moby Lines transports tourists to Sardinia, the neighbor island which is only 12 kilometers away. One gets the most beautiful view to Bonifacio and the white cliffs during a trip by ferry or boat.

Corsica can be reached easily by ferry from the mainland

The public transport is not only possible from island to island but there are also many ferries from ports on the mainland.  If a tourist travels by car-ferry to Corsica he doesn’t arrive in Bonifacio but in Bastia, the capital of the northern Island.

The Corsica port of Bastia is bigger and better qualified for the modern passenger ships. From there one gets to the south by car or by train. There are several starting points for ferries to Corsica: Livorno, Genoa or Nice, Toulon and Marseille.
