Ferry Harbour Dubrovnik Information
Ferry Dubrovnik
Journey to Dubrovnik
Many visitors come to Dubrovnik by ferry. Most of the Northern Europeans prefer the journey over the water because sometimes the road network in Croatia is not in good condition and on the streets it takes much longer.
The shipping company Jadrolinija offers ferry crossings from Bari to Dubrovnik. The journey takes about 8 hours.
Most of the shipping companies offer cabins for the crossing so that the passengers reach their destination in good condition. Even from the water one gets a fantastic view on Dubrovnik and its port. The town’s landmark is the city wall which is about 2 kilometers long. But tourists also love domestic excursions by ship. One of Jadrolinija’s most heavily frequented tours is from Dubrovnik to Split with stops in Stari Grad (Hvar) and Korcula.
A traditional holiday paradise
In the last years Croatia has developed to an up-and-coming holiday destination in Europe. There are several reasons for this: on the one hand the country has a scenic coast, in summer the weather is rather steady and in comparison to the other European holiday destinations it has a favourable price level.
Already before the civil war in the formerly called Yugoslavia this town in southern Croatia with its 43,000 inhabitants was a popular holiday destination. In 1979 the whole medieval city centre of Dubrovnik was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Therefore, a walk through the romantic narrow streets is a must for all visitors of the Adriatic Sea.
