Ferry Harbour Korcula
Ferry Korcula
Passage to Korcula by ferry
As the island doesn’t have a direct connection to the mainland, the ferry to Korcula is the transportation means number one. Many visitors come by ferry from Split to Korcula or from Dubrovnik to Korcula. Especially during the high season the small port is used to its full capacity and large passenger ships meet in the narrow bay. Other ferries leave for smaller islands nearby or for the mainland, e.g. for Split or Dubrovnik. Small domestic shipping companies organize the whole ferry traffic.
Korcula is an island in the Adriatic Sea
The island Korcula belongs to Croatia and looks back on an interesting history. The small island with its 16,000 inhabitants is said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous sailor. The traces of the past can be seen on Korcula and its town of the same name better than anywhere else. Parts of the medieval city wall are well-preserved.
The island is a popular destination for tourists as there is a favourable climate from spring to autumn. Additionally, there are a lot of summer residences in all categories. The island’s beautiful beaches and the shallow water of the Adriatic Sea are tailored for a holiday with the whole family. Besides tourism agriculture and fishing are the islanders’ most important sources of income.
