The architecture is typically Norwegian as well, with a lot of colorful wooden houses that are real eye-catchers, especially when the sun shines. The fortress “Christiansholm” which was used as a shelter against hostile attacks in the 17th century and that is used as a cultural centre today, is worth-while visiting as well.
