Ferry Rethymno
Rethymnon is the third-largest town on Crete
There is no other place than Crete to enjoy the authentic Greek flair. With its 1,040 kilometers of coast Crete is Greece’s largest island and the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean. Crete is a mountainous island. The inhabitants earn their living through tourism.
Due to the outstanding hospitality of the local people, the wonderful Mediterranean food, the lots of leisure activities and the gorgeous beaches Crete is a popular holiday destination. Rethymnon, or also Rethymno, is the third-largest town on Crete apart from Iraklio and Chania and has about 30,000 inhabitants.
Tourist attraction Crete
Every year Rethymnon, Crete’s third-largest seaport, attracts lots of tourists. The ferry connections to Crete are so good that the island can easily and comfortably be reached on the waterway.
The Rethymnon ferry takes tourists to the Greek mainland, e.g. to Piraeus. The website www.ocean24.de provides the exact schedule of the Rethymnon ferries and they can even be booked there safely and comfortably.
Which town is more beautiful?
Principally, Rethymnon is a very lively town. This is due to the fact that it is apart from Iraklio the headquarters of Crete’s university. Moreover, there is a hospital and the ferry connection Crete – Piraeus plays an important role, too.
History lovers can visit the archeological museum that is located next to an old fortress. Many typical old houses were built during the time of Turkish occupation. For years the inhabitants of Rethymnon and those of Chania have argued which one is the most beautiful town.
Carnival is very important in Rethymnon. Those who prefer a quieter ambience can relax on one of the beaches.
