Living the life of Riley in Brittany
Brittany has steep cliffs, wonderful beaches and excellent dishes. The region in the west of France at the border of the Atlantic Ocean attracts tourists who want to spend their vacation there.
In Roscoff, a seaport in the northwest of Brittany, tourists can immerse in the life of a typically Breton town. Only about 3,700 Frenchmen live in Roscoff.
From Roscoff to Rosslare by Irish Ferries
Roscoff port is situated outside the city center. From there the shipping company Irish Ferries leaves for Roscoff in Ireland. The route Roscoff – Rosslare is very popular for those who want to travel from Brittany to Ireland.
However, there is another ferry connection from Roscoff to Cork, which is apart from Dublin the second largest town. But there are not only ferries from France to Ireland. There are also connections to England. The Roscoff ferry runs between Brittany and South West England.
A lighthouse provides a wonderful view over Roscoff
Although agriculture influences the appearance of Brittany it is above all the Atlantic Ocean that reflects the life of the Bretons. A lighthouse provides a wonderful view over Roscoff and the Chapel of St Barbe provides the best view over the port.
There are beautiful houses made of granite in the historic city centre. Their windows are nicely decorated with flowers. The church of Notre-Dame de Croaz Batz is very imposing. Besides, there is the house of Mary Stuart that can be visited. The harbor where workaday life takes place can only be used during tide. The island Île de Batz is worth visiting as well.
