Tracing the footsteps of the Vikings
Colored wooden houses that are located at lakes and at the sea and lots of forests await tourists on their trip through Sweden. Trelleborg is situated at the southern tip of the Scandinavian country in the historic province Schonen.
There the footsteps of the Vikings can be traced. After 980 a ring castle was built by King Sven Gabelbart. The gates open to the four corners of the earth and the palisade is made of oak logs. This castle is called Trelleborg.
A naked woman looks over the town
As the castle which was built by the Vikings does not exist anymore the Swedish people have built a semicircular reconstruction of it. It is certainly worth visiting. Tourists who are interested in prehistory and protohistory should visit the town museum.
Works of the sculptor Axel Ebbe are exhibited in Ebbes Konsthall. This artist made the famous statue of the town: a naked woman, who looks over the port. In summer palm trees decorate the streets. Thus, the city fathers want to show that Trelleborg is located in the south.
