In 2007, SeaFrance was the official Grand Depart Transport Partner of the Tour de France. The tour began on 8 July in London. SeaFrance is the only french ferry operator on the Calais Dover route and currently has a fleet of 6 ships and carries out 46 daily crossings, 30 of which are tourism sailings. In 2005, SeaFrance launched the SeaFrance Berlioz, sistership of the SeaFrance Rodin which was awarded the 2003-2004 Cruise & Ferry Award for the Most Significant New Build Ferry.
In 2006, SeaFrance turnover amounted 226,5 M€. The company transported: - 3 573 000 passengers - 650 000 cars - 22 000 coaches - 765 000 trucks.
Its market share of the Short Sea route is : - 15,5 % for passengers - 13,7 % for cars - 12,6 % for coaches - 21,1 % for trucks.
The company employs a total of 1,700 staff, including 1,200 seagoing personnel and is the largest employer in the town of Calais. Its British subsidiary, SeaFrance Limited based in Dover, employs approximately 200 members of staff.
