Pets

It is not possible to book a passage for a pet on Ocean 24 directly. If you would like to take your pet with you, please leave a message in the "remarks" box during your booking. We are very pleased to register your pet for you then.

Can I take my pet to Ireland or Britain with me?
There are no restrictions on taking your pets to Ireland or Britain. Cats and dogs may travel in your car free of charge on the Irish Sea. For health and safety reasons your pet is not allowed onto the passenger decks (with the exception of guide dogs) and must remain in your vehicle. Foot passengers are unable to take dogs (with the exception of guide dogs).

Can I take my pet to Europe?
Yes, you can take your pet on all vessels to Europe without them being subject to quarantine laws on re-entry to the UK. Your pet can travel in the car or in the on board kennels (where available) and you can visit during the crossing, subject to weather conditions and staff discretion. Please ask at the information desk about possible access times once you board. Please note, we cannot allow pets on the passenger deck except for guide dogs.

What papers will my pet need?
If you are travelling between the United Kingdom and Continental Europe, your pet must have a valid EU Pet Passport which involves being fitted with a microchip, vaccinated and blood-tested against rabies. For details visit the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) website at www.defra.gov.uk.

How much will it cost?
Pets travel for free on our Irish Sea routes to Ireland or Britain. On our Harwich-Hook of Holland route, pets travel for £10 each way.

I'd rather not leave my dog in the car. Is there an alternative?
Pets can travel in kennels on the car deck on all routes between Britain and Ireland. Kennels are issued on a first come, first served basis.

What about Guide Dogs?
Stena Line is proud to have signed the Guide Dog Travel Charter, a code of ethics for the treatment of Guide Dogs and their owners by the travel industry. In accordance with the charter, guide dogs are entitled to free travel and have full access to the passenger decks on all Stena Line routes and vessels. Excludes ferries operating on the Fleetwood - Larne route and the Stena Lynx Express on Fishguard - Rosslare route.
